Sometimes it is hard to stay out of the games being played by someone who you were once close to, they know exactly how to get you all fired up and ready to have a go at them.

This can give them both the excuse to keep the battle going and an opportunity to create difficulty; but more importantly they also get to know, that they are in control of your emotions, whether you like it or not.

They may be hurt and upset or they may just want to create a bit of mischief to keep the battle going.

In any separation it is not only the moment being dealt with, it is also the loss of future dreams that both people will have thought about over their time together, this loss of the dream can be very painful indeed.

Just think about the last time you got all fired up and into a slanging match, who was in control of your emotions, think about it for a moment, if you are ready to blame the other persons behaviour for your outburst, then who are you saying is in control of you, (They are).

When you get upset and emotional, your rational thought process, which is needed to stay focussed on what you want, flies out the window.  Learning how to stay calm in the face of irritation and  annoyance from your soon to be ex,  will  give you the upper hand and keep you on track. Unwanted emotions and rational thoughts, are not easy bedfellows.

If you are saying that they are to blame, then you are also saying that you are giving your power away to them and they have control over your emotions, by giving away your power in this way, they have won the battle and possibly the war.
