Divorce Coach - Helping you achieve success, every step of the way!

You have spend some time choosing your legal advisor, usually this will have come about because someone has recommended them or you have heard good things about the way they have handled something before.

Your legal team are there to assess the facts and figures being presented to them.  They are there to make sure that all the agreements are legal and above board, and that as much as possible your needs and requirements are adhered too.  They are your voice in the legal world and will do everything in their power to represent you well.

The law does NOT take into account emotional issues. The law does NOT have feelings and is unlikely to have adequate ways of supporting you through this unknown territory. The law deals in fact and information.

Your solicitor is trained in the law, they are trained to pay attention to all the tricks and hide and seek games, that can be played by the person you are separating from, they have a set of structures which they have to interpret to your best advantage.

Your solicitor or barrister is NOT formally trained to deal with your emotions, no matter how many emotional cases they have to deal with that is not their primary focus and even though some  will do their best to deal with emotions as and when they arise, they are not expected ot specifically trained, to deal with all the emotions that are generated through the divorcing and separating process.

The more prepared you are to meet with your legal representatives with clarity and in an unemotional state, the quicker you will get to a resolution. By having the skills to keep to the facts, in a straightforward way will aid the process dramatically.

If your solicitor, can deal with the facts and figures, if they can be clear with you about what is your right, if they are able to discuss with you the grey areas that they need more information about, in an unemotional way, then you will have assisted them to do their job, in a way that they feel satisfied with.

If your solicitor or barrister, is able to discuss fully with you, those difficult and emotional areas, they are more likely to get to a resolution that you want, and without fear of an emotional outburst, they will be more likely, to keep you informed and  discuss things more fully with you.

However if you have an emotional outburst, every time they tell you something you don't want to hear, they will find ways of not telling you all the information and you will feel uninformed and this will raise your anxiety even further.
